The Berkshire Bank Critical Care Unit (CCU)  is located on 3 West.  A recent generous donation by Berkshire Bank will fund over the next three years, a complete upgrade of the existing facility.  To date, area upgrades include CCU grade headwalls, new camera system for bed two, and remote patient monitors at the work station.

Burn victim on vent in the Berkshire Bank Critical Care Unit

Two adult and one pediatric patient resides in our Critical Care Unit (CCU), much like you will find at any major medical center. Students gain hands-on experience taking care of two critically ill patients.  Both patients may be placed on vents.  The Critical Care Unit also has a workstation, a prep room that can be used for debriefing, and a separate control booth.

The Critical Care Unit has room for two patient bays complete with all the necessary equipment to take care of both patients. CCU is the patient care unit where the highest level of care is provided.

One station in the Critical Care remote control room.

A remote control room adjacent to Critical Care allows operators to see, hear and record everything that happens to the patient.  This information is used to provide "realtime" reaction by each patient and for evaluation of care giver skills.
