An Occupational Therapy Assistant
(OTA)
works under the direction of a registered occupational therapist to assist people with
physical or mental disabilities to achieve
independence through the use of everyday activities and skills. OTAs help a patient
regain and maintain independence by providing adaptations and modification of the personal
and work environments. OTAs also educate and train families or caregivers to promote
the patient's well being. Occupational Therapy Assistants
help people who have arthritis, stroke or other neurological conditions, hand or upper
